TAIWAN-US POULTRY BAN.
Taiwan on Tuesday became the latest on a growing list of countries banning imports of poultry from Kentucky following a recent discovery of low-pathogen avian influenza on a farm in the state. (See Ecuador, Colombia ban Ky. poultry on bird flu fears, Meatingplace, April 8, 2009.)
Taiwan informed USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that all poultry and poultry products produced on or after April 8, 2009, are ineligible.
Other countries to recently ban poultry imports from Kentucky are Mexico, Hong Kong and Singapore.
