MORE COUNTRIES BANNED FROM EXPORTING TO RUSSIA.

The Russian Department of Agriculture Rosselkhoznadzor, has placed a ban on one Australia plant and two plants from Brazil in a press release on Tuesday evening.

The was no significant reason given only that the plants did not come up to the requirements of the Russian government on sanitation and standards.

Russia are applying to export venison to the European Union from two of their abattoirs, there is no way that the plants in Russia would be fit to export to the EU.

Last year Russia imposed bans on 167 meat plants from 8 different counties each case without a specific reason.


There is a rumor that in the head office of Rosselkhoznadzor, they have a world map on the wall, indicating all the plants in various nations eligible to export Russia.

On a Friday evening after a few vodka’s the executives throw darts into the map, where the dart land that plant is taken off the export list the following Monday morning.

Meanwhile imports in Russia in 2008, grew by 17.6% to 1,461 million tons with a value of US$4.41 billion, compared with 1,242 million tons in 2007.

This is tremendous buying power and makes Russia quite easily the largest meat buyers in the world today.
