ARGENTINA-FARM ACCORD.
Interior Minister Florencia Randazzo met with the Lower House and Senate on Friday to brief them on the agreement signed with the farmers of Argentina.
On Tuesday the farmers leaders signed an accord with the government in order to bring immediate assistance to the farming community.
The beef export quota has been raided to 610,000 tons on paper, however this does not mean that 610,000 tons will be exported.
The beef plants still have to guarantee that 65%of all production of primal Hilton cuts of beef stay on the home market, topside, silverside, round, rump, strip loin, filet and cube roll.
There are no such restrictions on manufacturing beef, however with Russia currently out of the market there are no good markets for the very plain manufacturing cows, other than the home cooked meat market.
The better class steaker cows are suitable for Algeria and Angola but those markets are also in crawler gear.
The domestic market is vibrant as always with the meat consumption per capita now at 73 kilos up from the 2007 figure of 69 kilos.
Fortunately Argentina has been blessed with tremendous rains over the last 3 weeks, despite the initial flooding the climate now seems to be back to normal.
Argentina has one of the best rainfalls in the world and the Atlantic winds dry the land very quickly after the rain does its job.
