Two new high-power tractors from DEUTZ-FAHR

DEUTZ-FAHR has introduced two new high-power tractors with continuously variable transmissions and new engines capable of producing up to 260 hp. Their introduction coincides with the implication in 2011 of the TIER 4i emissions standards for engines with power outputs over 130 kW.

Last year DEUTZ-FAHR, in partnership with sister company Deutz AG, presented its new engine strategy based on SCR technology and AdBlue injection system. The two new models have been named according to the new designation format introduced alongside the new engine technology:

Model Max power Transmission

Agrotron 7230 240hp TTV

Agrotron 7250 263hp TTV

High torque, low consumption

With a maximum torque of over 1000 Nm (depending on the model), the new Deutz TCD 4-valve turbodiesel 6.1 L6 TIER 4i engines offer sufficient power for even the most demanding tasks. The engines are equipped for AdBlue exhaust treatment affording a significant reduction in harmful emissions. In the larger engine, the pressure in the AdBlue injection system has been increased from the previous level of 1600 bar to 2000 bar. This makes for considerable improvements in power delivery and fuel consumption and, when combined with the new turbochargers, leads to optimal engine response and efficiency.

TTV transmission

The innovative features of the models are not limited to the new engines but also extend to the DEUTZ-FAHR TTV transmission. The improved response of the engine has led to optimisation of the transmission for maximum driveability. The transmission recognises and responds to changes in load and traction and also ensures greater safety when towing trailers on the road.

The new models are equipped with the new PowerCom V control management system, which has been significantly re-designed and a feature completely new to DEUTZ-FAHR is the ability, where legal, to reach a potential top speed of 60 km/h, which means that 50 km/h can be attained with a engine speed of just 1650 rpm.

The new models also feature a high-spec PTO: three PTO speeds (540E/1000/1000E), with electrohydraulic control, load detection and proportional startup to help protect the attached implement. With a choice of two Economy speeds, a high percentage of PTO work can be carried out at lower engine speeds. Further improvements to the driveline include the option to fit extendible half-shafts for track width adjustment or to allow the fitting of twin wheels.

Hydraulic system with new power lift

All three DEUTZ-FAHR models from 130hp upwards are equipped with a Load-Sensing hydraulic system capable of delivering an oil flow rate of 160 litres a minute. The hydraulic system has its own separate oil tank.

Up to seven electrically controlled spools: five at the rear and two at the front, for efficient control of complex implements, including front and rear implement combinations. All spool valves are equipped with timers and flow control.

New look cab

All the models are equipped with the new Class S2 cab. The new multifunction armrest groups together all the tractor controls in one place, leaving free the side consoles, which now benefit from a new and more ergonomic design.

Ergonomics are further enhanced by the new iMonitor with its larger display and touch-screen controls. The new cab also features a new lighting control panel with intuitive, time-saving controls for a quicker response when working.

In addition to the new side console design and the new iMonitor, operator comfort has also been addressed by fitting the latest-generation seat for the driver along with a comfortable passenger seat.

The cab structure has been improved with a one-piece windscreen for better forward visibility and reduced noise inside the cab. Last but not least, there is the automatic climate control system with front air outlet vents which, being integrated in the steering column, move when the steering wheel position is adjusted and, as a result, are always positioned correctly relative to the operator.

Advanced braking system for maximum safety

The POWERBRAKE braking system now represents the benchmark for operator comfort and braking capacity; the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with intelligent braking function regulates the braking force to suit the load in conjunction with the operation of the TTV transmission.
