New dairy cattle cup remembers late Shropshire dairy farmer

A new cup donated in memory of a prominent Shropshire dairy farmer who died last April aged 81 will be on offer for the best pedigree and commercial dairy cattle at Shrewsbury Auction Centre on April 1.

The Robin Maund Cup, which will be competed for annually, has been donated by Mr Maund’s sister to auctioneers Halls’ catalogued dairy show and sale, which is sponsored by the Farmers Guardian.

Prizes to the value of £300 will be on offer and entries for the catalogued dairy show and sale close on March 14.

“Mr Maund was a very well known Shropshire dairy farmer and past president of Shropshire Holstein Club,” said Halls’ director and dairy specialist David Giles. “The new cup is a fitting way to remember this stalwart of the dairy industry and loyal supporter of Shrewsbury Auction Centre.”
