Farm machinery in demand at Shrewsbury auction

Used farm machinery was in great demand at a successful collective auction at Shrewsbury Auction Centre on June 7.

Auctioneers Halls were 'delighted' with the 1,000-lot entry and attendance at the bi-monthly auction. Nick Hyne, Shrewsbury Auction Centre director, appealed for more entries of plant machinery, tractors and loaders for the next auction on August 2 to cater for demand from buyers.

Top prices in the tractors and telehandlers were: £13,500 for a 2007 Terex TR250 pivot steer, £9,200 for a 1996 case 5140 tractor and £2,800 each for a David Brown 885 and a Ford 3600.

More than 60 trailers went under the hammer, with the top price of £5,500 going to an AW 12 ton grain trailer. Harvesting equipment was also keenly contested, with a New Holland round baler making £2,900 and a Tanco 1,000 bale wrapper selling for £1,900.

Top prices in the farm machinery were £3,700 for a Kuhn twin rotarake, £2,600 for a Kuhn rear mounted mower, £2,400 for a Kuhn tedder, £2,350 for a Amazon fertilizer spinner, £1,800 for a Einblok grass harrow, £1,150 for a Grays 16 tine buckrake and £1,050 for a one ton box rotator.
