Police are appealing for more information following an incident where two out-of-control dogs attacked sheep and killed one lamb in Dorset.
Dorset Police are investigating the attack on sheep near Shaftesbury and are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
At around 3.10pm on Saturday (10 March), Dorset Police received a report of two dogs attacking sheep in the area of Hawkers Hill Farm.
The dogs involved were believed to be a black Labrador and a golden Labrador. Their owner was not seen.
The owner of the sheep was later identified and confirmed that one of his lambs had been killed. The lamb was only a few days old.
Police Constable Richard Cooke, of North Dorset police, said: “We are making enquiries into this incident and I am keen to trace the owner of these dogs.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen dogs matching the description given in the area in the relevant time or has any information as to their owner to contact police.
“We would ask all dog owners to ensure their dog is on a lead whenever it is near livestock.
“If members of the public have any information or concerns regarding dogs not under control near livestock, they are urged to contact us.”
Earlier this month, two women were charged following two separate alleged incidents of sheep-worrying in Scotland.
The NFU has also launched a new initiative called #TakeTheLead to educate dog walkers about the need to use a lead near livestock when in the countryside.
