World-leading outcross bull by newsire of sons

A world-leading Holstein bull – which ranks number eight on the USA’s prestigious TPI (Total Performance Index) list and is being used as a sire ofsons by international breeding companies – has been secured for use by Britishdairy farmers.

The bull, called E-Longview CM, has the added attraction of offering outcrossbloodlines, which will be welcomed by Holstein breeders who are currently overrun with sons of Oman, Goldwyn and Shottle.

As such, he is said to have been one ofthe most welcome surprises of the most recent Holstein proof run, with his unique sire-stackand his promising, all-round credentials for production, fitness and type.

CM issired by the new sire of sons, Jeweled Acres Sharky (Ricecrest Brett x Pen-ColEmery) and his dam is an EX91 Comestar Outside daughter which completed asecond lactation of 16,000kg at 4.2% fat and 3.6% protein (305 days).

His PTA (Predicted Transmitting Ability) whichincludes 686kg milk and over 25kg fat is complemented by long daughterlifespans (Lifespan Index +0.4), outstanding daughter fertility (FertilityIndex +0.3) and easy calving (Direct Calving Ease +0.2).


Also a cell count improver and solidtype transmitter (Type Merit +1.02), he transmits slightly above average stature, agood balance of strength and dairyness and good mammary conformation. Hislinear profile shows his daughters’ udders to be well-attached, while he pulls in front teats.

The 197 recorded daughters whichcontribute to his production proof give him a UK-equivalent reliability of 77%,instilling confidence in his performance.

Sire analysts have identified CM assuited to a wide range of matings including on daughters of Toystory, Ramos, Boliver and Mr Sam.
