Parc y Scarlets will be the next stop on NFU Cymru’s campaign trail with its ‘It’s Time to Back Welsh Farming’ message this Friday when the Scarlets play Newport Gwent Dragons.
“The Welsh public are our greatest asset, we will be asking the thousands attending the rugby game on Friday to continue to back the Welsh farming industry and help us through this current crisis,” said NFU Cymru Carmarthenshire Chairman, Rhys Jones.
The campaign trailer will be parked in a prominent position for the fans to see as they enter Parc y Scarlets ahead of the game on Friday night. The trailer, branded with the ‘It’s Time to Back Welsh Farming’ bilingual campaign message, has been kindly donated by Ivor Williams Trailers. It is being towed by a Land Rover Defender, which has also been kindly donated by Land Rover UK to NFU Cymru to help with the campaign.
Rhys Jones will be interviewed live by resident match day announcer, Tommo, at half time to explain to the crowd why the farming industry is currently struggling and how they can help.
Rhys will explain the three ‘Ls’ that shoppers should look for when out shopping:
• Logos – indicating quality standards and origin of ingredients
• Labels – indicate where products are from and how they are made
• Location – point of sale locations like shops or supermarkets should be placing Welsh products in high-visibility areas
Rhys Jones added, “In what is an extremely challenging time for the Welsh agricultural industry, with lamb producers and dairy farmers in particular facing severe price pressures, NFU Cymru is continuing its tour of Wales over the next month with the campaign trailer and organising local events to help promote the work Welsh farmers do.
