The NFU's North West horticulture and potato board chairman, Sarah Fairhurst, has been elected as vice chairman of the British Protected Ornamentals Association (BPOA).
Sarah, who is quality manager at Porters Horticultural Limited in Southport, was nominated and voted to become vice chair by fellow members of the BPOA.
It is a position that will lead to Sarah becoming chair of the association next June for a two year term of office.
Commenting on this new role, Sarah Fairhurst said: "I'm really honoured to have been asked to take on this role, especially as I was nominated by one of the previous chairmen, and North West grower, Duncan Taylor of Arden Lea nurseries in Southport.
"I'm looking forward to the challenges this role will give me, and I hope growers will continue to give me the great support that I've always received since joining Porters."
