With its smart new cab and hydraulics upgrade taking the 85-113hp McCormick X5 Series tractors further upmarket (see separate story), distributor AgriArgo has maintained a lower-spec option for operators who want a simpler tractor at an especially keen price in the shape of the McCormick X50M range.
Derived from the earlier C-Max design, the McCormick X50M is a capable but more basic tractor that retains the previous cab design. It comes with a choice of 85hp, 95hp and 102hp outputs from a Perkins 854E engine that has shown improved fuel consumption over earlier engines and has a simple but effective emissions package.
All three X50M models come with a synchro shuttle transmission providing 24x12 speeds (or 32 forward when the creep ‘box is added) and two-speed pto.
Maximum oil flow from the gear pump hydraulics is 52-litre/min – plus 30-litre/min dedicated to steering – and the 2600kg or 3700kg ratings for the mechanically-operated rear linkage cater for different implements.
The McCormick X50M has a robust but lighter duty rear axle than the X5 tractors and is available with two-wheel drive as well as an open platform for applications where height or other considerations make this preferable to a cab. Electro-hydraulic pto and four-wheel drive engagement are new refinements that make the X50M tractors easy to operate.
Feature and specification differences between the McCormick X50M and the new X5 models can be compared on the table above.
