A farmer has issued a plea to the public to keep dogs under control after a new born lamb was killed in a suspected livestock worrying incident.
The Zwartble lamb, born on 3 January, was found with 'deep puncher wounds' on the day she was born. The incident happened at Liverton, near Saltburn, East Cleveland.
The lamb- one of triplets - belonged to sheep breeder Alison Stevenson, who has since posted a plea on Facebook to dog walkers.
“I am absolutely gutted. We had our first lambs this morning (unexpected) - seems she may have been attacked by a dog,” she explained.
“Deep puncture wounds to skull and jaw, a little bit of bottom jaw missing.
“Can’t begin to say how angry I am - poor little mite.”
The incident follows a Devon farmer painting his dead sheep with a message to dog walkers after a suspected attack killed them.
Matt Baker, who farms in Alphington, painted the dead sheep with the message 'no dogs thanks' following a suspected livestock worrying incident on Boxing Day.
