Crowe Livestock, the only underwriting agency which exclusively provides specialist international insurance cover for animals, has written poultry mortality cover since its launch in 1996. Poultry Elite is Crowe Livestock's first insurance product to also cover property, liability and subsequent business interruption.

Emma Stamper, Managing Director of Crowe Livestock, said:

"The poultry industry in the UK is considered to be amongst the most professional producers in the world, adhering to the tightest of farming standards. It is for this reason that we developed Poultry Elite to provide farmers and producers with a unique insurance solution combining All Risks of mortality, including disease, together with property, liability and business interruption.

"We are delighted that after considerable developmental work, we are now in a position to provide this cover to the UK poultry sector."

Roy Clamp, Director of Powells, said:

"By launching this exclusive policy with Crowe we will build upon their expertise in this sector to help protect farmers who will be attracted by Poultry Elite's broad protection and disease cover."

Powells Insurance Brokers has developed its poultry and livestock expertise following the recent acquisition of Hodgson Barrow Ltd. Based in Liverpool, Powells has grown steadily over the past 23 years through organic growth, new business sales and selective acquisitions. The brokerage commands a strong provincial presence and has recently moved to purpose built premises in the prosperous Brunswick Dock area of the Liverpool waterfront. This move, coupled with a recent internal restructuring, and a young management team will enable further expansion of the business.

Emma Stamper founded Crowe Livestock in 1996 following nineteen years underwriting and broking in the London Market. From elephants to mice; from cattle to killer whales, the 11 strong Crowe Livestock team works with over 60 brokers and agents to cover clients both in the UK and world-wide. The Norfolk and Antwerp based team also insures government disease programmes throughout the world for all livestock groups.
