Anticipation builds as breeders, spectators and visitors watch on as the industry’s leading experts make the difficult judging decision at the UK Dairy Day.
This year’s judging panel is now complete and the line-up is exceptional.
Following the announcement of the National Show judges as Brian Miller for Holstein and Edmund Els for Ayrshire, UK Dairy Day has confirmed the additional line up of coloured breed class judges.
The judges will include:
• Glyn Lucas – Brown Swiss Judge
• Ian Collins - Dairy Shorthorn Judge
• David Mann - Guernsey Judge
• James Waring – Jersey Judge
The Cattle Show is THE showing event to be part of and with a prize fund totalling £20k, competitors could come away with significant monetary wins.
This year The National Holstein Show features eight Holstein classes, a Heifer Championship class and a Senior Championship class.
The National Ayrshire Show includes six Ayrshire classes, a Heifer Championship class and a Senior Championship class.
'Fantastic show'
All cattle classes will run throughout the whole day at UK Dairy Day on Wednesday 13th September.
In the morning, the heifer classes take centre stage followed by the all senior classes in the afternoon – and NEW for 2017 will be the Interbreed Championship.
The Interbreed Heifer Championship will be presented in the main ring at lunchtime followed by Interbreed Senior Championship late afternoon.
To bring the show to a close the Interbreed Dairy Pairs, sponsored by the Principal Partners, will be presented.
Stall bookings are now open and competitors are encouraged to submit online application forms before the 19th July 2017. The cattle entry deadline is then the 4th September 2017.
Lynden Bustard, Cattle Show Manager and Chief Steward, commented: “With the support of dairy businesses, including Anglia Farmers and Westpoint Farm Vets, who are this year’s Cattle Show sponsors, the competition has established itself as one of the UK’s most prestigious – with breeders from all across the UK braving the show ring!
“Under one roof we see the most pristine animals, with the creme de la crème showmanship skills on parade. We’ve received fantastic support this year making the prize fund an incredible total of £20k!
