Richard Corbett, who runs a family farming business, has been elected as Chairman of the CLA’s Herefordshire Branch.
"I am delighted to accept the challenge of helping the CLA serve and support its Herefordshire members over the coming two years" said Corbett.
"The Association has never had to fight so hard to represent and protect the interests of its members, and it is unlikely that this challenge will reduce in the near future."
"With continual restrictions on the rights of landowners, farmers and other rural businesses to operate on a level playing field, and with never ending interference and restriction from national and EU government in the running of their businesses, it has never been more important for members to have a strong body representing and fighting for the interests of its members in Whitehall and Brussels.”
Richard’s business produces hatching eggs for the broiler industry, blackcurrants, cider fruit and cereals.
It also has residential and commercial property lets, and interests in renewable energy production. He is also an active director of a local grain storage cooperative and an agricultural contracting business. Richard trained as an agricultural engineer at Harper Adams and worked for JCB for seven years before returning to run the family business.
