The UK farming industry is uniting to support Red Tractor Week this September as an autumn campaign dedicated to promoting British food gets underway.
Now in its sixth year, Red Tractor Week (11 to 17 September) includes a programme of activity designed to highlight the provenance of Red Tractor food to shoppers and remind them of the stringent standards that are used to produce it.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of British food, and the processes which go behind it, from farm-to-fork.
Each day, the campaign will be focusing on a different food sector: Monday – Poultry, Tuesday – Dairy, Wednesday – Pork, Thursday – Fruit, Friday – Beef & Lamb, Saturday – Vegetables and Sunday – Crops.
Organisations and individuals can support and interact with the campaign by posting content on social media, using #trustthetractor.
The industry has also got behind Back British Farming Day as an opportunity to demonstrate to the public the importance of farming.
Back British Farming Day will take place on 13 September, and is seen as a chance for the industry to demonstrate to MPs and the wider general public the importance of British farming.
The NFU has explained that the public can get involved by tweeting their local MP on the day and asking them to wear their #backBritishfarming wheat pin badge at Prime Minister's Questions.
