Top chefs and food experts are lined up to judge this year's Soil Association Organic Food Awards – and there's still time for farms and food manufacturers to enter their top quality products.
Raymond Blanc, Sophie Grigson, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Matthew Fort are among the experts who will choose the best organic produce from around the UK. The awards are run in partnership with the Mail on Sunday's You magazine.
Over 30 categories of fresh and processed food will be judged during the awards, including fresh meats, cheese, fruit and vegetables, poultry, beer, baby foods and ready meals..
A series of special awards are also available for the best box scheme, local food initiative and producer of the year. An organic trophy will be awarded to the individual or company who has made the most significant contribution to the organic movement in the last 12 months.
"The Organic Food Awards are a key event in the culinary calendar and highlights the outstanding produce that is available from thousands of organic farms and food companies," says Patrick Holden, director of the Soil Association. "The awards are an annual celebration of all that is excellent and organic in the UK. We are so lucky to be supported in the judging by many of Britain's most eminent chefs and food writers."
The closing date for entries is Friday 27 June. Details and entry forms are available from dlane@soilassociation.org or by calling 0117 914 2451. Alternatively you can visit the OFA website at http://www.organicfoodawards.co.uk
Finalists will be invited to a glittering awards lunch at the Dorchester, London on Friday 24 October.
