Alick Jones has been appointed as Agricultural Policy Director for Lloyds TSB Agriculture and Bank of Scotland with immediate effect.

Mr Jones who takes over this key position in Lloyds Banking Group’s agriculture team from the recently retired Dick Mason, brings significant agricultural banking experience to the role, together with a thorough understanding of the political, financial and environmental issues facing modern farm businesses.

He first joined Lloyds Banking Group in 1983, gaining a good grounding in agriculture from the outset, and has been immersed in farming finance throughout his career to date. He moves from his position as Regional Agricultural Manager with AMC, which he has held for six years.

Mr Jones has completed The Worshipful Company of Farmers’ ’Challenge of Rural Leadership’ course and is directly involved with Lloyds Banking Group’s sustainability network. He has also been a member of the credit policy committee that advises on lending to agriculture.

’Firstly, my role as Agricultural Policy Director will be to ensure that Lloyds Banking Group continues to recognise and act on the very dynamic and particular conditions that apply to farming and agribusiness,’ he says. ’This will involve engaging with the leaders and opinion formers from throughout the industry as well as working closely with the Lloyds agriculture teams internally. It will be a process of co-operation, collaboration and innovation, as appropriate, to ensure Lloyds Banking Group is responding promptly and offering the best solutions and services for the food and farming industry. Sustainability is a primary issue for our industry going forward, and will be an important consideration in all aspects of my role.’

Alick Jones will be based at Lloyds Banking Group’s head office and will report directly to Agriculture Director Gareth Oakley.
