The Forde Grange Goat Dairy at Forde Abbey held its open day on Friday 12th September, with over one hundred people attending. Visitors were taken on a tour of what is now one of the largest goat dairies in the country and had the opportunity to watch the goats being milked in the new parlour – a wonder of new technology.

BCM acted for the estate and was heavily involved throughout the appraisal through to implementation in this major agricultural investment. The total investment exceeded £1 million and was a joint venture between the Forde Abbey Estate and the Frosts, a local farming family. Mark Shepherd from Laurence Gould, farm business advisors, acted for the Frosts.

This much sought after milk is taken by the Cornish Country Larder chain and the milk and a range of cheeses can be found on the major supermarket shelves of Waitrose, Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco.

Andrew Bays, a partner at BCM comments "This enterprise and joint farming arrangement has been created to combine the skills and resources to provide a valuable diversified income stream for the estate and expansion capacity for the joint venture farmer. This is the sort of shared farming arrangements that are ever more common in today"e;s farming world".

Mark Shepherd from Laurence Gould adds "I am encouraged and delighted to see such a level of investment in an agricultural enterprise and the foresight of the individuals involved to provide such a sound business footing for the future".
