Dragon breathes new life into cheese

South Caernarfon Creameries has unveiled a brand new dairy range; and in keeping with the companies’ Welsh roots, have appropriately named it ’Dragon’.

South Caernarfon Creameries is the only company in Wales that produces and packs a range of authentic Welsh milk, butter and cheese. The new look Dragon range includes milk – full fat, semi skimmed and skimmed; salted Welsh butter and cheese – mild, medium, mature and vintage Cheddar and Welsh Caerphilly.

It’s not just the Dragon name that is authentically Welsh, this new range is Welsh through and through. It is made using Welsh milk produced by South Caernarfon Creameries’ member farmers located in North and North West Wales, the products are then made in their Chwilog dairy and packed in Wales, at the same site. South Caernarfon Creameries will be showcasing this new range to the trade at IFE.

"Although some of our competitors claim to produce Welsh products, we are the only company who can offer such a broad range for the retailer as well as guaranteeing that it is 100% Welsh" explains Lynne King, Commercial Director at South Caernarfon Creameries. "We hope that this range will help fulfil a real gap. We are finding that more people are concerned with food provenance and in recent consumer research we identified that 100% of the survey wanted to purchase more Welsh products but only 62% thought that the products that they were buying were authentically Welsh. If someone buys Dragon, they are definitely buying Welsh! It isn’t exclusively reserved for the Welsh market though; we have deliberately kept the labelling simple, and it is bilingual, so that it can be sold wider in the UK too."
