An expansion into the game and shooting sector is announced today by Countrywide, the UK’s leading rural retailer.

The acquisition of Country Keeper, a specialist game rearing and shooting business, further enhances Countrywide’s growing reputation as a business whose ethos is to provide the very best service in support of the rural community.

Announcing this significant move, which will be branded "Country Keeper in Association with Countrywide"; Countrywide CEO John Hardman said, "We felt very strongly that Country Keeper formed a ’perfect fit’ with Countrywide, as it ties in naturally with our current range of products and services. By launching into the game and shooting sector we have listened to our customers and strengthened our business. The new brand will focus on game rearing and shooting, and offer customers highly qualified staff and practical advice and expertise. I am pleased that founder, Andrew Davies, will continue his involvement with the business, bringing as he does, a lifetime of experience and know-how."

The product range includes game and shooting equipment, feed, cover crops, feeders and drinkers, specialist rearing equipment and accessories, as well as a comprehensive range of country clothing. Products are available nationwide by telephone and on-line at www.countrykeeper.net.

The news of the acquisition was warmly welcomed by the National Gamekeepers Organisation, who were keen to endorse the potential for the industry.

A spokesman for the organisation said, "It is good news that such a high profile and professional business such as Countrywide is demonstrating this support to our sector. We are looking forward to working with them in promoting the benefits of a vibrant and diverse countryside."

To celebrate this innovative acquisition, a new catalogue is being produced and will be available from Country Keepers central office in Bromyard, all Countrywide branches and on www.countrykeeper.net .

Country Keeper will be at the British Shooting & Countryman Show 2010 (27th and 28th February at Newark Showground) and the new catalogue will be launched at this event.
