A turkey parcel, buttermilk coated fillets and a stuffed turkey terrine among the new products shortlisted for the British Turkey Awards 2016.
An independent panel of judges made up of press and the public will have the task of choosing the coveted British Turkey Retailer of the Year.
This is the retailer deemed to stock the best range of fresh everyday turkey portions.
The judges will also taste their way through over 40 different turkey products covering 10 categories, including no less than four dedicated to Christmas products – Best Premium, Traditional, Convenience and Innovation.
The remaining AYR categories such as Best Meal Solution and Ready-to-Eat reflect the wide choice available to consumers throughout the seasons.
Due to the extensive volume of entries for Christmas Premium, judges will select the top three for the final shortlist on the judging day which will take place at Ealing and Hammersmith College in July.
The judging panel comprises Melanie Leyshon, editor The Healthy Food Guide; Lee Maycock, Craft Guild of Chefs; Aidan Fortune, News Editor at Meat Trades Journal; Sheila Eggleston, Food & Drink Editor, Cost Sector Catering. Joining them will be two consumers who will be selected via britishturkey.co.uk
Catriona Lee, chair of the British Turkey Federation’s Publicity and Marketing Committee, said: "We are delighted to see such an extensive and interesting range of entries from the main industry players to the smaller, independent producers.
"Of course Christmas and Easter are always going to be the key time for whole birds and added value joints."
"But with the support of retailers, much more choice is on offer to shoppers looking for a quick midweek meal, a healthy alternative or something different for the barbecue."
Judging takes place in July and the winners from each category will be announced on 22nd September at a special awards dinner at The Sheraton Park Lane hotel, London.
