4R Group acquires MWH ByProduct increasing geographic coverage and expanding recycling capacity

4R Group’s development and expansion continues with the announcement of its acquisition of the MWH ByProduct business based in Heywood, Lancashire from MWH Limited. The business will trade as a going concern, called ByProduct Recovery, as part of 4R Group.

ByProduct Recovery provides an enhanced range of recycling and recovery services to those provided by 4R Group, and brings expertise in handling other liquid and solid industrial wastes that provide excellent feedstock for manufacturing agricultural products, such as fertiliser replacements.

Incorporating ByProduct Recovery into 4R Group will bring forward additional investment in plant and equipment, further reduce overhead costs across the businesses and ensure broader geographic coverage for 4R Group in North West England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Mike Holt, Managing Director of 4R Group, said "We are delighted to welcome the ByProduct Recovery staff into 4R Group, and we see a bright future for ByProduct Recovery. Across the Group as a whole we strive to provide industry with cost effective, environmentally beneficial options for managing wastes more sustainably, diverting waste from landfill and manufacturing recycled products as part of the drive for a greener economy."

The acquisition increases 4R Group’s ability to offer a "total waste management" capability to cater for packaging wastes, liquids, oils and fat from the food industry.

Mike continued: "This is an important time for the UK economy in terms of jobs and investment. The emerging green economy can definitely play a large part in supporting growth, and reducing the twin impacts on business and farmers of hikes in landfill tax and the increasing cost of traditional agricultural products due to rising energy costs."

ByProduct Recovery staff will be based at the Group’s headquarters in Stourton, Leeds.
