Okehampton offers a further choice of shops & supermarkets (including Waitrose, Lidl, Co-op) while further schooling in the area includes a primary at nearby Highampton, a state secondary school in Okehampton and the independent Shebbear College in Beaworthy.

There are plenty of excellent walking, cycling and riding routes in the local area (e.g. the Tarka Trail), while Dartmoor National Park with its various touristic and sporting offerings is within easy reach.
