Our eleven-year old, thriving farmers’ market, in the heart of our historic town, bustles with excitement twice a month, and is one of our town’s leading attractions for residents and visitors alike. The reasons are clear. A vast array of products is available – Angus beef, rare breed pork, game, fish, poultry, organic bread, cakes and pastries, award-winning chutneys, jams, charcuterie meats, honey and pies, traditionally made cheeses, soft fruit, vegetables and chillies, plus garden plants.
The atmosphere is fantastic, the aromas beguiling and the opportunity to socialise makes the whole shopping experience a joy. Our popular ‘taster days’ allow new foodie experiences to be discovered, with locally produced scrumpy cider and beer on offer, and usually with musical entertainment. All produce is top quality and sourced within 30 miles, and all stall holders meet the same standards for health, safety and labelling as any other retail outlet. We are very proud of our market.
