We began the business selling our potatoes and free range eggs at the gate. Due to customer demand, the range of products soon increased and we grew into the venture we are today.
We now have over 60 members of staff and have stayed true to our original aim of selling home produced, quality food, supported by likeminded local growers, as much as possible.
We have a traditional butchery counter selling our own free range pork and Aberdeen Angus beef, reared just four miles away on our family farm. There is also a delicatessen, bakery, jam kitchen and food hall.
Our potatoes are home grown and you will find everything from fruit, vegetables and groceries to plants, flowers, gifts and cards.
Butchery
We opened our butchery in 2006 to sell our home reared beef and pork.
Aberdeen Angus beef
Our Aberdeen Angus beef livestock is carefully slaughtered locally and delivered to the shop in carcus form to ensure very low food miles. Our team of talented butchers cut and prepare the beef to sell on our butchery counter. As well as all the favourite beef joints, steaks and cuts we also make our own burgers.
Free range pork
We stock all the favourite pork joints and cuts and make our own award-winning pork sausages and pork and apple burgers. Our pork is also dry cured by hand for bacon and cooked ham, which is available on our deli counter. Our pork is used for our scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pork pies too.
Locally sourced chicken and lamb
Our free range chickens and West Country lamb are supplied by local farmers. The chickens are available whole and as cuts or breast fillets. The Lamb is prepared into joints, mince, steaks and classic lamb chops. Our butchery also stocks local venison, rabbit and offal. A large range of seasonal meats and poultry is available to order for Christmas, Easter and other special occasions too.
Preserves
Our kitchen produces a range of 50 products including jams, chutneys and marmalades. We have an array of tasty options from our bestselling strawberry jam to our unusual gooseberry and elderflower jam.
Our team also makes three varieties of delicious fudge, luxury matured traditional Christmas puddings and juicy brandy mincemeat. Down the years we have won numerous awards for our products.
Delicatessen
On our Deli counter customers can chose from a huge range of local cheeses, as well as those from further afield, plus a tempting range of cooked meats all supplied from our butchery.
We also make all our own pies, quiches, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, pasties, ready meals and salads. These products can be made in large volumes for parties and functions. A tasty selection of olives, pâté and charcuterie is available from our deli too.
Bakery
Our delicious handmade range of freshly baked cakes, puddings, pies and biscuits are very popular and have won us various awards. New recipes are constantly being added.
We also produce seasonal items such as Easter Simnel cakes, luxury traditional Christmas cakes and indulgent mince pies.
We have daily deliveries of speciality breads, rolls and loaves from a local Artisan bakery too.
Café
Our new café seats approximately 80 people. The dishes prepared in the kitchen are made from ingredients from the farm shop, our family farm and regional suppliers. Our aim is to use fresh, local produce that is in season as much as we can.
We also serve afternoon teas, a carvery on a Sunday and we are licensed to sell alcohol. To add to this, we have a separate special diet menu and one especially for children.
We have outside seating and a children’s play area, which has a lovely view over our orchard.
