About Us
Hartpury University and Hartpury College is a UK leading land-based university and college. Our stunning, specialist campus covers over 360 hectares in the heart of Gloucestershire.
Hartpury has a rich heritage in farming, which is matched by our ambitious vision for the future. 100% of our agriculture students are in meaningful employment within 15 months (Graduate Outcomes 2021). We’re ranked as an Ofsted Outstanding college, with an A-level pass rate of 100%. We’re also in the top 10 UK universities for teaching quality (The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, 2023).
Our qualifications are developed in line with evolving industry requirements, consulting with employers to ensure the skills you’re developing are in demand.
Why study agriculture at Hartpury?
As a Hartpury student, you’ll get hands-on as you receive a career-focused learning experience. You’ll also benefit from our network of over 2,000 commercial links and partnerships.
We offer a range of agriculture qualifications, from diplomas in agriculture, land-based technology, farm mechanisation, engineering and gamekeeping, through to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees including PhDs. We’ll help you develop your knowledge and skills as you prepare to make a difference to the future of the sector.
Our industry-leading facilities
Recent investments such as our government-backed Digital Innovation Farm project and £2 million Agri-Tech Centre are placing us as a leading industry voice. The Agri-Tech Centre, designed to support students, staff and industry, delivers a smart farming platform where knowledge and digital technology combine. Access to smart tech, robotics and precision tools will give you the chance to develop the skills that employers are looking for.
Home Farm provides a testbed for leading research and best practice. With access to 400 hectares of commercial farmland across five sites and the latest agricultural technology, you’ll be able to apply your knowledge and develop key industry expertise.
The traditional lowland mixed farm is home to a core dairy enterprise (an autumn calving Holstein Friesian herd and a spring calving Guernsey herd), a sheep flock of North Country mules, a beef rearing and finishing enterprise, and arable production. The farm works commercially with the likes of Muller, Marks and Spencer's, Morrison's and Frontier Agriculture, and includes a state-of-the-art dairy parlour, biosecurity facility and biodiversity plots.
At the forefront of research
We’re also a base for the valuable research of ADAS, the UK's largest independent provider of agricultural and environmental consultancy, policy advice and research and development.
You’ll also have access to a network of smart farming professionals. They’re continually innovating sustainable ways of working across the entire supply chain, improving productivity, as well as animal and farmer health and wellbeing.
Our new Tech Box Park supports companies to develop ideas in a commercial setting, offering an extended farming network for practical trials and feasibility testing. As a student here, you’ll have access to business support and opportunities to present your ideas to the companies for feedback and possible development.
Graduate success stories
Our graduates have gone on to become farm and estate managers, agronomists, agricultural advisors, sales managers and lecturers; others have set up their own successful businesses. You could be the next Hartpury success story!
