We are Farm Ness. A gate to plate experience on our farm which runs from the banks of Loch Ness to the Inverness City boundary. We have a small farm shop and takeaway hot food van selling our own produce.
Donald's family, the Frasers, have been here farming the land since the 1930s and today the farm is run by Donald, his dad Donald and his mum Mary. Donald, and his partner Joanna, established Farm Ness in 2020.
We farm 3000 acres, with 250 acres of malting barley. A herd of 200 cows, 800 sheep, 2 woolly pigs, 2 Highland cows, 5 pygmy goats, a gaggle of geese, a wee flock of hens and 2 British Black Bee hives.
In the last few years, regenerative farming has been at the heart of all we do and in recent years we have introduced more wild flowers, ponds, hedgerows and trees. This is a collaborative project with our neighbouring farms in Scotland's first ever 'Environmental Cluster'.
In 2021, we had the exciting opportunity of having the BBC's 'This Farming Life' follow us as we tried to setup our new found business. Head over to iPlayer where you can watch all of the drama unfold in series 5.
