Westcountry Woods Honoured

Thirteen west country woodlands and estates will be honoured with Royal Agricultural Society of England (RASE) Awards at this year's the Royal Show.

The Royal Show will be taking place at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire between Sunday, 29 June and Wednesday 2 July.

The 2003 RASE regional woodlands and plantations competition awards covered the four western counties, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset. Entries totalled 21 estates and 33 sites.

Angela Lea, RASE's head of policy said: "The judging panel was impressed by the overall keenness and skill of the small estate owners and were equally impressed at the other end of the scale by the professionalism of the larger estates. "

The awards will be presented by His Grace, the Duke of Gloucester in the Farm woodlands and forestry area of the Royal Show ground on Tuesday, 1 July.

The award is run in conjunction with the Royal Forestry Society of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
