State is sole cotton buyer in Zimbabwe
The Zimbabwean government has declared itself the sole buyer of cotton in the country, as the four-month price war between farmers and merchants over the price of the crop rages on.
A stern warning has now been issued by agriculture industry experts that the row could affect Zimbabwe’s cotton production this year, as the three main cotton depots in the country — Gokwe North, Gokwe South and Sanyati — remain empty.
