Demand will drive lamb production - bank

Sheep farmers were urged yesterday to maintain production to meet the demand for Scotch lamb in both home and export markets.

Although the price of hoggs has in recent weeks drifted down to levels below last year, Bank of Scotland’s head of agriculture, Sandy Hay, said the market remained buoyant compared with previous years and prices were likely to remain high for the "foreseeable future".
