UK must meet growing organic demand as new event announced

As a landmark at the start of the 5th year of the Organic Trade Board’s campaign to grow organic sales in the UK, an exciting briefing entitled ‘Prosper and Grow with Organic’ has been announced.

It will take place on 4th March 2015 at the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects venue in London W1 and is open to anyone with an interest in growing retail sales including retailers, Category Directors, Brand Managers, Export Managers and Market Intelligence companies, processors, brands and own-label suppliers and all those who want to benefit from the growth that organic can bring.

The £1.4million Organic Trade Board campaign is 50% funded by the EU and 2015 will see the continuation of focus on outdoor advertising, digital and PR activity.

Claus Juel-Jensen will explain how organic lines have played a big part in the growth and success of Netto – a discounter, whilst Klaus Arntz will be showing how Wessanen’s brands such as Kallo, Clipper, Bjorg and others are delivering growth to retailers across the EU.

Catherine Fookes, OTB Campaign Manager, comments: “We are excited by the high profile speakers we have secured for our Prosper and Grow with Organic event. In Europe, organic sales have continued to rise considerably over the past year (e.g Italy +17.4%², France +9%³, Germany +7%4), so it is essential that the UK doesn’t miss key opportunities for growth and meets the growing consumer demand for organic.”

The event will also see the launch of the UK’s first ever organic usage and attitude survey, a major piece of research that has been carried out as part of the OTB’s drive to understand consumer motivations by category.

This will be the first chance to gain a wider understanding of exactly who the consumer is. The campaign’s exciting plans for 2015 will also be revealed with additional speakers from OTB and marketing agency Haygarth.
