Sales appointments at Tong Engineering

Two new sales appointments have been made by leading potato machinery manufacturers Tong Engineering — with Nick Woodcock joining the firm as UK sales manager and Simon Lee promoted to office sales manager.

Mr Woodcock will initially be working with Jerry Gill who is planning to retire as sales manager later in the autumn after 26 years with the firm.

He joins Tong Engineering with almost 20 years’ experience in the potato and vegetable sector working with A E Goodacre & Son at Donnington and then the Burdens group at Sutterton when it acquired Goodacre in 2007. Initially trained as an industrial electrician, he has worked as service manager and then also sales manager becoming responsible for the main vegetable production areas of Lincolnshire and East Anglia.

Mr Lee has been with Tong Engineering since the 2004 acquisition of Peal where he had worked for several years. He spent two years in the service department, then becoming a factory supervisor before taking up his new sales role.

"Nick Woodcock has built up a excellent rapport with customers in one of our key regions and his experience and calibre will be an asset to our business," says Charles Tong, managing director of Tong Engineering. "Since he joined us Simon Lee has extended his product knowledge and developed solid relationships with our customer base, and I’m sure this new position will enhance our sales team."
