RSPCA Assured launches new advertising campaign

A TV advert - featuring the voice of actor John Hurt - will be shown during popular programmes including Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and Come Dine With Me and More 4’s Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals and Kitchen Nightmares.

Fifty two million eggs are used by Brits on Pancake Day - 22 million more than any other day of the year.

And with about half of eggs produced in the UK coming from hens kept in cages Liam Kurzeja, Marketing Manager of RSPCA Assured, hopes the new campaign will encourage people to look for RSPCA Assured eggs which are cage-free.

He explains: “The TV ad will air during popular food and family programmes in the run up to Pancake Day. The quirky combination of animation and poetry used in the ad is designed to be engaging and educational, with a clear ask for people to choose RSPCA Assured products.”

As well as the TV ad for the first time RSPCA Assured has also launched a recipe video on how to make a pancake on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Kurzeja continues:

“We've made a short, snappy, easy-to-follow 30-second stop motion video with a funky soundtrack, demonstrating how to make that perfect pancake.

“Recipe videos are really popular on social media at the moment and we hope our recipe will appear in people's news feeds just when they need it, saving them time and effort and reminding them to choose RSPCA Assured eggs.”

The campaign will also be supported by a series of infographics on laying hen welfare and pancake information, which will be shared on social media and the RSPCA Assured website.

The RSPCA Assured label on meat, eggs and fish which launched last May hopes to help improve the lives of a further 100 million more farm animals, plus many millions of salmon and trout, within five years.

And with 96% recognition of the RSPCA brand, it is estimated that the amount of RSPCA Assured labelled food could increase by as much as 200% within five years due to an increase in consumer demand.
