Norvento gets fit for the UK Wind Market

Spanish renewable energy developer and manufacturer launches a revolutionary 100kW turbine to the UK market (nED 100) and outlines twelve-month development and investment portfolio plan

London, Monday 7th October 2013 – Norvento, an independent, medium scale wind turbine manufacturer, has signed a string of major agreements with UK developers and has confirmed the installation of its firsts nED 100 in the UK, as it underlines its commitment to the UK’s distributed wind energy market.

The developments mark a significant milestone for the independent Spanish business and for the UK distributed wind energy market, as Norvento introduces the next generation of innovation to a rapidly evolving industry sector.

With the UK distributed wind energy market currently suffering from a lack of innovation and technical development, Norvento’s market entrance introduces fresh, innovative thinking to a market that is notoriously under invested in and overlooked. For prospective developers and landowners therefore, the launch offers an important opportunity to benefit from technological efficiencies and advances that have previously only been available to those working within large-scale wind power.

To date, Norvento has confirmed four separate developer agreements with Dulas, Fine Energy, Renewables First and Seren Energy. Collectively, all four partnerships provide Norvento with the means through which to quickly build out and develop an initial investment portfolio of revenue generating wind energy sites, located throughout the UK.

Critical to the success of the wind energy portfolio is the introduction and launch of the nED 100. The 100kW rated turbine incorporates the latest advancements from large wind machines, introducing direct drive and hydraulic-free technology, both electrical pitch and speed control systems and a superb aerodynamic design that allows significantly reduced noise levels.

This, when combined with a comprehensive 24/7 monitoring, management and support system and the introduction of a genuine power performance warranty, has already resulted in strong levels of interest from Landowners and investors, resulting in the confirmation of the two first installations, to take place in Powys and Ceredigion, respectively. Further single turbine sites are already undergoing planning and development consent.

“The UK medium scale wind market needs products that contain contemporary technology and product design and companies that can offer professional operations and maintenance support,” said Ivo Arnús, Director for Business Development in Norvento.

“Our latest wind turbine is designed to run at maximum capacity and efficiency, it is prepared to cope with ever increasing grid requirements whilst emitting a noise level that is substantially below that of other products on the market. It’s because of this that we’re starting to see strong market interest.

“We look forward to working with our distributors in the market to provide a top tier product that requires low maintenance and develops the maximum possible wind energy.”

Phil Horton, Head of Renewable Energy Development Services, Dulas Ltd said: “We are very pleased to be working with Norvento to help them to introduce their new 100kW wind turbine into the UK. They are a highly professional company and we look forward to a long relationship, taking their projects through to consent and beyond.”

To support its commitment to the UK, Norvento will shortly open a dedicated operations, maintenance and support centre, in Bristol.

The 4,000 ft² UK headquarters will be staffed by a team of project developers and a fully trained operations and maintenance crew. The headquarters will also serve as a transit hub and storage space for new turbine spares and parts.

With a 30-year track record, renewable energy developer Norvento already has over 120 MW of wind energy projects currently under management and over 1.5 GW under development around the Globe.

This proven pedigree, combined with a long-standing and extensive research and development commitment, ensures that the nED 100 turbine incorporates proven large-scale wind energy innovation into future growth in UK distributed wind energy.

Ground is due to be broken for the construction and installation of the first UK turbine in later in October.
