New appointments for UK pig and poultry sectors

Two new appointments have been made by Pfizer Animal Health for the pig and poultry industries — Ifor Phillips becoming one of two key account managers for the pig industry and James Porritt the UK poultry manager.

Mr Phillips, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the pig industry, joined Fort Dodge four years ago and moved to Pfizer when it acquired Fort Dodge last autumn.

After graduating in zoology at Bristol University, he spent 24 years with pig breeding company PIC in herd management, sales and customer service roles. He then worked for three years for Agil supporting its livestock products and global distributors.

With Pfizer he works alongside Freddie French, who joined the company in 2007, and they are jointly responsible for key accounts in the whole of the UK.

Mr Phillips is married with a son and daughter, and lives in Oxfordshire.

James Porritt has been working for Pfizer for the past three years as regional sales manager for livestock products in the north west of England, and is now responsible for UK sales of the much enlarged poultry product portfolio including the Fort Dodge range of vaccines.

In his new position he is returning to the poultry industry where he gained more than eight years’ experience as national poultry key account manager for Collinson, manufacturers of feeding and storage equipment.

Previously he studied for a National Diploma in Agriculture at the Lancashire College of Agriculture, now known as Myerscough College.

He is married with two young daughters, and lives near Preston.
