New Knight-Bednar cultivators in action this autumn

The Power in Action and Tillage-Live events this autumn will give UK farmers their first opportunities to see the Czech-built Bednar cultivators, now being marketed by Knight Farm Machinery, in action.

The company is the sole UK importer of Bednar equipment, which is already well established in central and eastern Europe.

The biggest machine on show will be a ten-metre Swifterdisc with two rows of 520mm aggressively serrated discs designed to deal with crop residues particularly efficiently, followed by a steel-ring finishing packer. The Swifterdisc models are compact, well balanced and able to work at speeds up to 15km/hr, allowing high daily acreages to be achieved.

Also being demonstrated will be Bednar’s Fenix FO cultivator with four rows of sprung auto-reset tines that can work from 50mm to 350mm deep.

Behind the tines is a row of levelling discs and a rear steel-ring packer that can be raised out of work in unfavourable conditions. This model is available in working widths from 4m to 7m.

Swifter SO Concept models have been developed for final seedbed preparation after ploughing and in minimum tillage systems.

A mounting frame allows different soil-working elements to be used to suit soil conditions and produce fine seedbeds for crops such as sugar beet and vegetables. The SO model is available up to seven metres wide and the range-topping Swifter SM up to 18 metres.
