A new version of the popular herd management application myhealthyherd will, say its developers, provide farmers with a much simpler and more extensive system to manage the health of their cattle. It will also, for the first time, allow farmers to produce their required herd health plans completely free of charge and has been designed to be fully compliant with Red Tractor standards.

Myhealthyherd, which was developed by internationally respected vets Pete Orpin and Dick Sibley, is a web-based application that is already widely used by vets and farmers to measure, manage and monitor cattle health on dairy and beef farms. Business development manager Keith Hurst says that farmers will find the newly released version of the application much simpler to use and that the offer of free herd health planning now made myhealthyherd an absolute must for farmers, especially those who have previously struggled with preparing paperwork for the assessors. “You don’t have problems with missing sheets of paper. Everything is done on the computer, can be updated as and when necessary and it’s simple to see when you have completed everything correctly. The vet can review and sign off the health plan remotely and, providing the farmer gives their permission, the Red Tractor assessor can even check the documentation online before coming to the farm, making the inspection process much simpler and quicker.”

“This is as straightforward as it gets. No messing with paperwork; everything is there safe on the computer.” said Keith.

As well as free herd health planning, myhealthyherd also provides farmers with a number of other powerful tools. For example, the Vaccine Manager helps farmers to manage their vaccination schedule providing reminders when vaccines are due, and the Health Evaluator that compares herd-specific data against achievable targets, highlighting where profit opportunities are available through improvements in their cattle’s health.

Keith said that a Knowledge Hub would also soon be added to the application, offering a single point of reference for comprehensive information on a range of health conditions and diseases.
