Hydor, designers and manufacturers of complete environmental ventilation and control systems for agriculture, have announced a new addition to its extensive range of publications. The new ‘Horticultural Ventilation’ brochure provides a 36 page guide to creating optimum growing conditions through ventilation systems in glasshouses, poly-tunnels and garden centre applications.

In many markets, with rising fuel and energy prices, profits can be lost as a result of insufficient or incorrect ventilation. Hydor provides the horticultural industry with ventilation, greenhouse climate control and irrigation control systems and works closely with commercial growers to ensure the best results for their crops with minimum outlay and low operational costs.

For commercial growers, the reliable and efficient provision of adequate ventilation of greenhouses is a pre-requisite. The primary need for ventilation is to prevent excessive temperatures, by using cooler outside air to replace the hotter air trapped inside the greenhouse during periods of sunshine.

By providing flexibility in fan applications, Hydor systems increase air movement and can have a significant effect in reducing fungal diseases such as Botrytis (particularly in the cooler periods when vents are closed and natural airflow is reduced). Systems include inlets and outlets, control panels and evaporative cooling for humidity control and an array of features for the supply, operation and regulation of fans, curtains, heaters, cooling systems, scales, lighting, management programs and data collection. An extensive range of drive systems enables the control of roof and side inlets for vents.

The new brochure, developed specifically to address the issues of this important market, details case studies and provides technical information and specification data for Turbulators, winches, high-efficiency propeller fans, belt-drive fans, floor-mounted and wall-mounted models, air circulation fans, evaporative cooling systems and control units. Hydor’s capabilities extend beyond the standard product range to specialist bespoke capabilities and the brochure details several of these units developed and installed in horticultural research stations and universities, as well as government and commercial growers.

The literature also includes a reader friendly product-selector spread, which gives a simple overview of all the products and ranges offered in order to assist customers in considering their choice.

The range of Hydor brochures now numbers 35 in total, with the new publication complementing ‘Environmental Conditions for Hydroponics’, in addition to specific literature targeting a range of agricultural markets including Crop Storage, Poultry, Dairy and Beef, Equine and Pig.
