Fresh face leads the way

A new member of staff has joined the East of England Agricultural Society. Bringing a wealth of knowledge and unreserved energy with her, Kerry Buttriss has joined the team at the East of England Showground as their new Agricultural Manager.

As an experienced Aberdeen Angus exhibitor and livestock enthusiast, Kerry has a great understanding of the agricultural industry and is already bringing some great ideas to the Society, looking at ways to improve the East of England Country Show and develop other events for the Agricultural community.

"This is a really exciting time here at the Showground, with the new exhibition centre, exec, opening in November the opportunities for indoor shows, sales and demonstrations on all aspects of farming and the countryside are endless. We welcome breed societies, auctioneers and event organisers to work with us and these new facilities," says Kerry.

"However, these are tough time so farming, especially for those with livestock, and we have great sympathy for those farmers affected. Movement restrictions will also impact on the showing of livestock. At the moment the Showground is taking every day as it comes in terms of bluetongue restrictions, but we will strive to find ways to work round these restrictions and currently plan to go ahead as normal, delivering our best ever show."

Andrew Mercer, Chief Executive of the East of England Agricultural Society said: "We are delighted that Kerry has joined our hardworking and talented team here at the Showground. I am sure here contribution will be felt not only within the Society, but also in the farming community in the East of England and beyond.'

The Society also welcomes new farmer members and offers free or reduced entrance to a host of leading events throughout the year, as well as providing current members with support and guidance. The Society has also donated £5000 to the new Fresh Start Academy launched at Moulton College, Northampton, just one of many projects we support to enable farmers to develop their career prospects in agriculture.
