Energy generation to provide solutions for farmers

The introduction this year of feed-in tariffs will provide additional income to those considering renewable energy. This means that there is now a significant opportunity for the farming industry to contribute to electricity generation, enabling them to take advantage of a new income stream while also reducing their carbon footprint by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Canolfan Hinsawdd Cymru, which delivers the Climate Change Development Programme on behalf of Farming Connect, is inviting farm and forestry business owners to find out more about how to tap into this new source of revenue at a renewable energy on-farm event at Henfaes Research Centre, Abergwyngregyn on Wednesday 24 February 2010 from 10:00 – 15:00.

The event will focus specifically on energy generation techniques. The day will start with a walk around Henfaes Research Centre discussing several on-farm renewable energy techniques and will then focus on hydro-power and anaerobic digestion with plenty of opportunity for questions.

Speakers at the event include:

Pat Stebbings, Kite Consultancy, who has many years experience in advising on energy projects.

Dr Prysor Williams, Bangor University, who has a strong research interest in AD.

Chris Morris , Fre-energy, who has hands on experience of building on farm anaerobic digesters.

Tecwyn Evans, senior planning adviser from the Environment Agency Wales.

As space is limited, booking is essential and will be on a first come first served basis. As part of the event will be outside, warm, weather-proof clothing is advised.
