Dairy farmer puts organic milk on the map

A Devon dairy farmer has created a giant 2,450 square metre outline of a cow on the side of a hill near Crediton in Devon to remind people of the important relationship between organic milk and the landscape.

The earth carving, nicknamed ’Murial’, depicts a stylised cow in the shape of the Moo milk logo and is the same size as its inspiration, the ancient Cerne Abbas Giant in neighbouring Dorset. The image will remain on display until the field is ploughed.

The carving – whose technical description is a geoglyph – has been created in partnership with Milk Link to support their Moo Organic brand.

Moo Organic is performing well, with year to date sales volume up 39% on the previous year. Figures show that consumers are buying Moo Organic milks more frequently than ever before, indicating that it is a firm favourite for those looking for organic on the long life milk fixture. The brand will also benefit from a dedicated marketing campaign to support new product launches later in the new financial year.

Hamish Renton, marketing director for Milk Link, the producers of Moo Organic, said: "We have had a great response from British shoppers since we launched Moo Organic. Using milk from committed farmers like Anthony Lee is what makes Moo Organic unique."
