There was considerable interest among the visitors to Cereals 2013 who saw the double press which Matt Brown designed and made to work the 500 arable acres of heavy Essex clay.

With nothing on the market that did the job he needed, Matt used his skills to design and make a machine for himself, and had it featured in Practical Farm Ideas.

The double press has two rows of tines and a clod boards and he can alter the depth of the tines and the angle of the clod board as he goes along. It is built around second hand Vaderstad rings.

"Every field has variations in soil types and moisture, and it is ideal to be able to change the shape of the machine you're using to suit conditions as you drive," says Matt, who uses a 175HP New Holland 7030 in front of the machine which weighs some 6 - 7 tons. More info: http://bit.ly/10Xy0JZ
