The Agritechnica show in Germany not only provided a platform for previewing the 143-175hp McCormick X7 VT Drive stepless tractors (see separate story) but also new mid-range and livestock tractor ranges.
The two McCormick X6 Series tractors are destined to replace all current MC models and the 110hp X60.40 and 112/126hp X60.50 while going beyond the current power ceiling of both those ranges. Outputs planned are 111hp, boosting to 121hp for pto and transport applications, and 121hp boosting to 133hp from 4.5-litre engines supplied by FPT Industrial.
The tractors will also deliver more sophistication than the current X60 and MC models, providing significant advances in performance and productivity uprated gear pump hydraulics, a closed-centre piston pump option, a 50kph option for the improved 36x12 Argo Tractors semi-powershift transmission, and suspension options for the front axle and the new cab, which is inspired by the Premiere design on the new McCormick X7 Series.
A new class of tractor for the McCormick range will arrive with the X4 Series, which will comprise six models from 61hp to 101hp destined primarily for livestock farms.
The new low-profile cab, designed and built by Argo Tractors, is particularly spacious for a tractor of this size.
The 3.6-litre engine models of 85-101hp will arrive first, followed by smaller versions. A newly-developed Argo Tractors designed and built transmission with a wide choice of configurations – 12x12 synchro shuttle plus optional creep, power shuttle, two-speed powershift and reduced revs 40kph Eco gearing, has been developed for the new machines.
