AHDB appoints Nick Allen as new EBLEX director

Nick Allen has been appointed as the new director of EBLEX, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) announced today.

Nick will take up his post in October. He moves up from his current role as senior regional manager for the beef and lamb division of AHDB.

He joined MLC in 1998 as South East Regional Manager, crossing over to EBLEX when it was formed to manage the regional team. He has extensive knowledge in the sector and has first hand experience of managing a dairy herd and rearing beef.

Kevin Roberts, Chief Executive of AHDB, said: "Nick knows farming and knows the industry and I am confident that he is the right person to manage the delivery of the beef and lamb strategy developed by the EBLEX Board.

"As part of my Executive Management Team he will also help us to achieve the sought after operational efficiencies from the new integrated levy board structure."

EBLEX chairman John Cross said: "Nick has a lot of experience of the issues impacting on the cattle and sheep sectors and I look forward to working with him to continue to add value to our levypayers."

Nick said he was looking forward to taking up the post and tackling the challenges ahead.

"This is a dynamic and exciting time for agriculture. I passionately believe that the beef and lamb sectors have great long term future, but recognise there are many serious challenges ahead," he said.

"I am determined to make sure EBLEX serves the industry well and provides our stakeholders with good value for money."
