Herd Homes Systems were invented by Tom and Kathy Pow, Northland dairy farmers. The Pows have a dairy farm in Northland and werent satisfied with wintering facilities for livestock. Having used cubicle barns, stand off areas on concrete, metal, wood chips sawdust and sacrifice paddocks, all systems worked but not for long enough periods and with associated problems. From that point onwards development has continued throughout NZ with the help of farmers and AgResearch NZ.
